Rate of pay:$30.82 - $31.64

The Facilities department is currently seeking a Regular Full-Time Carpenter to join their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs maintenance and repairs throughout the new tower and existing Hospital on such items as doors, door hardware, locks, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, furniture etc.
- Installs wall protection materials.
- Installs and maintains window blinds and other window coverings.
- Performs preventative maintenance on doors and hardware, locks, etc.
- Maintains the key system with records.
- Inspects and recommends repairs to building fire separations.
- Provides verbal or written recommendations and reports.
- Carries out duties as a member of the Hospital Fire Team.
- Completes work orders in a timely manner with accurate documentation of work performed in the computerized maintenance system.
- Performs all work and duties in a safe manner and follows all safety procedures.
- Wears and utilizes safety equipment and attends monthly safety meetings.
- Patient safety will be specifically considered as the incumbent performs the duties, functions or services of their job.
- Considers safety of self and co-workers while performing work.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of Qualifications - Carpenter or College certificate/diploma in a related field.
- Experience in carpentry, lock and door repair, low voltage electrical circuits required.
- Must be able to work in a fast pace environment with demonstrated ability to set priorities.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and record keeping skills required.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Hospital experience is preferred.
- Available for overtime including call backs, as required.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co-workers.
