The Rehabilitation Unit is currently seeking a Registered Nurse with an interest and a passion for leadership to take on the position of Charge Nurse to lead the daily operations of our inpatient units and to act as a resource for those providing service(s) to inpatients. Reporting to the Manager, the Charge Nurse is responsible for leading the overall coordination and facilitation of effective, efficient and safe clinical activities, promoting effective inter-professional collaboration, supporting continuous quality improvement, and liaising with other patient care areas as required. As a nursing leader, the Charge Nurse will provide problem-solving, consultation and clinical support to nursing colleagues and students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Bachelor of Science in nursing or equivalent preferred and/or current Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification preferred.
- Current BCLS is required, ACLS is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of acute treatment of stroke.
- Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation best practices for stroke (example NDT).
- Experience and knowledge of the National Rehabilitation Reporting System and FIM.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, and availability.
- Current or recent clinical experience of up to five (5) years in Complex care /Rehab nursing is required.
- Current or recent experience in a Charge Nurse position or a consistent Team Leader position is an asset.
- Acts as a resource person to the physicians, and support staff, in relation to the care of patients and unit operations.
- Assumes accountability for facilitating the resolution of identified patient care issues in collaboration with the Patient Care Team.
- Works in partnership with client/family and inter-professional team to facilitate appropriate, timely and effective discharge/transition planning.
- Assigns, adjusts and supervise work assignments of nursing, PSW and clerical staff.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, problem-solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration and team building skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with lean tools and techniques, such as safety crosses & performance monitoring boards, to track team/unit progress on key performance measures.
- Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality and availability required.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co-workers.
