POSITION SUMMARY:
The HIS will ensure the efficient collection of health information for CIHI, the provincial Ministry of Health, and the Hospital. Computer competent, you will utilize CIHI standards and guidelines to code/abstract data for Emergency (NACRS) encounters (inpatient and/or day surgery coding may be added depending on level of experience). A graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program, you are certified by the Canadian Health Information Management Association. Experience in coding using ICD10 and computerized abstracting with MED2020 is preferred. Upon completion of training this position will work remotely.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program.
- Certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), in good standing, is required.
- A minimum of 2 years recent coding/abstracting experience required.
- Proficiency with electronic abstracting and computer applications (Word and Excel).
- Experience with Meditech and Med2020 (Winrecs) would be an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
