Reporting to the Director of Surgery, and working in partnership and collaboration with the Surgical Management and Physician Team, this position supports the development and adoption of best practice and excellent care delivery in the Operating Room, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, Outpatient Procedure Unit, and Endoscopy in alignment with the strategic plan of the program. <br><br>As the leader in practice development, this position works in a patient centred, interprofessional environment, and provides support for clinical excellence through the identification of evidence influenced, quality initiatives across the Surgical Program. With a focus on the integration of clinical standards and research, the Practice Educator works closely with the care team and other stakeholders to support clinical competencies and decision making, as well as to identify and optimize efficiencies in the delivery of care. This position also collaborates with external agencies and academic centres to support formal and informal educational opportunities for students and preceptors. In addition, this position contributes to the advancement of quality practice across the corporation.<br><br>QUALIFICATIONS:<br>" Must be a Registered Nurse; current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario <br>" Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. <br>" Master's Degree in Nursing or Leadership preferred; will consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a Master's program<br>" A minimum of 5 years' experience in Surgical and/or OR nursing <br>" Perioperative Nursing Certification required CPN(C)<br>" Evidence of strong clinical knowledge and decision making skills<br>" Knowledge and experience with using and interpreting quality metrics and change methodologies required<br>" Demonstrated ability to provide support and leadership to advance evidence based inter-professional patient centered care <br>" Able to promote practice excellence both internally and externally through research, education, and quality initiatives<br>" Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, organizational and time management skills<br><br>Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a visionary community based hospital, demonstrating commitment to strong successful relationships between its patients, their families and its health care teams.
